Usually the bells are silent during Holy Week but this year was different as we joined the nation in tolling the tenor bell at 7pm on Maundy Thursday in solidarity with Notre Dame following the tragic fire.
Our Friday practices and Service ringing continue as usual, plus it’s the start of the wedding season so there will be several Saturdays when the bells will ring out in celebration.
Thank you everyone for supporting the annual Duck Race on Easter Sunday. The ducks didn’t disappoint, neither did the weather. The winning ducks belonged to Trish Watcyn Jones, Anne Hales and Pat Mattimore. The rabbit’s name was Boris guessed by George Hales (Anne Hales grandson) a double winner for the Hales family!
We also enjoy the social element attached to ringing and recently this has included a mini outing finishing with ringing at Dorchester Abbey. We have also continued to support Project Resound, Rob Nickless (our Branch Chairman) gave a talk on The Fascinating World of the Honeybee in April and more recently there was a Promises Auction, both events very successful. Talking of honey bees there are still a few jars of Rob’s limited edition Project Resound Borage Honey available at the Post Office.
As always you are very welcome to join our Friday evening practices and see why we enjoy ringing.
