6. Eli Caudwell, farmer, Churchwarden, County Councillor and Chairman of the Parish Council from its inception in 1894 until his untimely death in 1908. In a speech which followed the thanksgiving service for the completion of the restoration of the church in 1906 he commented that he thought he must have been born a churchwarden. In all he served for 38 years from the age of 23 when this photograph was taken.
