23. Thomas Bennet, known as Dabber Bennet and noted for his lardy cakes, stands outside his shop with his wife and daughter on the London Road . He also provided coffee and cakes for the farm boys to keep them from the public houses. This is another of the many shops that are now private houses although as recently as 1968 it was Blewbury Post Office. The present name is Laurel Bank.
