GRANTS AVAILABLE FROM THE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION OF WILLIAM MALTHUS (MALTHUS TRUST)
Once again, we welcome grant applications from Blewbury residents under the age of 25 who are attending universities and further education colleges, or taking up apprenticeships. Application forms will be available from the Post Office from MONDAY AUGUST 2nd and will include instructions on how and when to complete them.
The Malthus Trust exists for the benefit of young people resident in Blewbury. Trustees are directed to apply surplus income as follows:
- In awarding grants for further education at schools, universities, colleges and educational institutions.
- In providing financial assistance with reasonable expenses, instruments, books etc as part of an educational course.
- In helping applicants prepare for (or enter) a profession, trade or occupation on leaving school, university or other educational establishment.
- In assisting individuals with fees, or by covering travel, subsistence or maintenance costs connected with training.
The grants are awarded at a meeting of trustees held in early September.
Completed applications must be returned to the Post Office ON OR BEFORE CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON TUESDAY AUGUST 31st. Applications received after the above date will be considered by trustees at their March meeting, when grants are often lower because the financial requirements for the rest of the year are unknown.
THE FRANCES FRY SCHOLARSHIP
Assistance is also available, at the discretion of trustees, to provide science-related scholarships to assist applicants to further their scientific studies.
