57. Orson Ebsworth, also shown in no. 44 outside his almshouse, stands in the stream at Parsonage Farm at the end of a busy day’s sheep washing. In its heyday, up to 30,000 sheep were washed in year at the rate of 500 a day. Blewbury was one of the few places in the area that had an adequate water supply. The pool is close to Watts Lane (no. 86). |
