Privacy policy

The Blewbury Bulletin, which operates this website, respects your privacy and will not collect, use or share any of your personal information unless you explicitly authorise us to do so.

1. PERSONAL INFORMATION

There are only three circumstances in which the Blewbury Bulletin will ask for personal contact details:

  • When you sign up to our Stop Press email service. In this case, we will use your details only to send you Stop Press emails containing urgent village news or information.
  • When you sign up to receive copies of the Blewbury Bulletin either by post (print version) or by email (PDF version). Again, we will only use your details for this specific purpose.
  • When you contact a member of the Bulletin or Web team with a specific enquiry. In this case we will only use your details to respond to that particular enquiry.

2. SECURITY OF INFORMATION

To prevent unauthorised access or unlawful processing of your personal information, we keep any information you supply confidential and store it securely.

All email addresses (for Stop Press and Bulletin PDF mailings) are held on our behalf on the secure servers of the commercial service provider MailChimp®, and not on any private computer. MailChimp is a participant in the U.S. Government’s EU/Swiss Privacy Shield Framework, which protects the personal data of all EU and Swiss citizens when transferred to a participating U.S. organisation.

All postal addresses (for mailing printed Bulletins) are stored in a spreadsheet for administration purposes. This spreadsheet is stored on the personal computer of the Bulletin’s Postal and Email Distributor, which is protected by a firewall and full anti-virus protection. The spreadsheet is also backed up onto an external hard drive which is kept at the home of the Postal and Email Distributor.

3. CONTROL OVER YOUR DATA

You may ask us at any time to provide details of the personal data we hold for you. Should you do so, proof of identity will be required before we release the information.

If you subscribe to either of our email services, you may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe from this list link provided at the foot of every email we send you.

If you have the print version of the Bulletin delivered to you by post, you may cancel your subscription at any time and obtain a refund of any outstanding postage costs by contacting the Postal and Email Distributor (details on the back page of every Bulletin).

4. NON-DISCLOSURE

We will use your information only as set out in this Policy and will not sell, rent or otherwise disclose it to any third party unless required to do so by law.

5. COOKIES

The only cookies that are set for every visitor to the Blewbury site are those for Google Analytics, which we use to provided anonymised statistics of how people move around the site and which pages they find most useful. For more information on what Google does with information gleaned from the Analytics cookies, please consult the relevant section of the Google website.

These commenter cookies are set to expire a little under one year from the time they’re set.

6. YOUR CONSENT

By using our website, you consent to the collection, storage and processing of your personal information by us in the manner set out in this Policy. If we change our Privacy Policy we will post the changes on this website so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use and under what circumstances we disclose it.
