15/03/2025

Would you like to have a better understanding of some of the core
principles of personal finance? Making smart decisions from the beginning can help make sure you have enough money to do the things you want to do. Former Blewbury resident David Barclay-Watt is giving a talk on Tuesday, 25th March at 7:30pm, providing some simple ways to think about managing your finances and get a head start on the future, including:

  • Bank account basics, budgeting and saving
  • Building credit, and the good and bad of different forms of debt
    (including student loans)
  • A basic description of the tax system
  • Investing and what to do with your Child Trust Fund money
  • How families can act as cohesive financial cooperatives

Having qualified as an accountant with Deloitte, David has worked most of his career in the banking industry. His current role is as a corporate banker for NatWest. He has a long-held interest in personal finance and is a keen advocate of financial education for all ages.

This FREE talk will be held at St Michael’s Church. Refreshments will be provided, and parents are welcome to attend. RSVPs are not needed but appreciated for planning. If you have any queries, or have any specific finance questions you would like answered on the night, please email fosmblewbury@gmail.com. This event is hosted by the Friends of St Michael’s.
