The Manor Garden is a 10-acre blend of formal and informal landscapes. You’ll find herbaceous borders neatly framed by box hedging, an organic kitchen garden flanked by greenhouses, and a wooden arch draped in roses and wisteria. A gravel garden is enclosed by a hornbeam alleyway, creating a picturesque escape. As you move further from the house, the grounds take on a more natural feel, with streams, a pond, and a woodland area inviting leisurely strolls.
Tickets at £5 can be purchased online or at the gate, with all proceeds from sales benefiting NGS.
On Wednesday 2nd April, pupils from Year 4, 5 and 6 represented our school in the final round of The Vale of White Horse Small Schools League tournament, hosted at Harwell School. Competing against three other teams, our players demonstrated incredible determination, skill, and teamwork, culminating in an astonishing league victory by a single point.
The tournament kicked off with our first match against Harwell. Despite our best efforts, we struggled to break through their defence and ultimately suffered a 2-0 defeat.
Next, we faced Stanford. Early in the match, we found ourselves trailing 2-0, but with resilience and teamwork, we fought back to equalize, ending the game with a hard-earned 2-2 draw.
Our final match was against Whitchurch. We conceded an early goal, putting us 1-0 down. However, just before halftime, our team responded with two crucial goals. The second half saw an outstanding performance, with three more goals added to our tally. Archie, Jai, Kian, and Ivee all found the back of the net, securing a resounding victory.
To our amazement and delight, we discovered that we had won the entire league by just one point!
“The hard work and resilience of the pupils has made the school proud!” said Miss Reeder, Headteacher.
The achievement was both surprising and incredible, proving that perseverance and teamwork can lead to remarkable success.
BlewShed took delivery of a much loved ‘Colchester Student’ metal working lathe recently.
A large workforce combined their strength to help unload this one-ton machine and move it into place in the newly designated metalworking shop at the Shed. A new BlewShed member is moving to Blewbury from Shropshire and wanted to bring his tools too. What better place to install them?
Over the past year, Blewbury School and the PTA have been fundraising for a new climbing frame. Alongside holding regular PTA events, they secured generous grants from local trusts and charities, including the Tony Loy Trust, the Tim Henman Foundation, the Sanghera Foundation, the Blewbury Music Quiz, and the Blewbury Players.
Thanks to these wonderful supporters, the dream became a reality during the February half-term when a fantastic new climbing frame was installed in the playground. The children have been overjoyed, eagerly climbing, swinging, and playing on their exciting new equipment—creating happy memories that will last for years to come!
