Neighbourhood Plan

Blewbury now has a Neighbourhood Development Plan. Based on extensive consultation with residents, the Plan has an integral role in planning decisions and development in Blewbury.

Neighbourhood plans are a new way for communities to have an influence on the future of the places where they live and work. The Blewbury Neighbourhood Plan was prepared by a steering group set up under the auspices of the Parish Council. The views of residents were collected, and independent, expert assessments of the village itself and of the landscape of the entire parish were carried out. The village was then consulted on drafts of the Plan, followed by detailed scrutiny of the final draft by an independent government examiner. Finally, a village referendum in November 2016 approved the Plan with a 94% majority. This process took nearly three years.

The Plan is now a legal document and decision-makers are obliged, by law, to take what it says into account when they consider proposals for development in the parish.
